VACCINE REQUIREMENTS

The health and safety of all pets at Aberdeen Kennels is our top priority. To ensure a safe environment, we have the following vaccine and health requirements for all dogs and cats being boarded or attending daycare:

Required Vaccinations

Rabies Vaccine

  • Requirement: All dogs must have an up-to-date rabies certificate.
  • Documentation: Must be the official rabies certificate signed by your vet, including the lot number and producer. Reminder papers or tags are not acceptable.
  • Note: This requirement is mandated by the State of Pennsylvania.

DHLPP/DHPP/DA2PP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)

  • Requirement: All dogs must have this vaccination up-to-date.

Strongly Recommended Vaccinations

Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

  • Recommendation: Strongly recommended but not required.
  • Timing: Must be administered at least 2 weeks prior to boarding for effectiveness.
  • Note: We cannot accept dogs that received the oral or nasal live virus Bordetella vaccine within two weeks of boarding. While the Bordetella vaccine reduces the risk, it is not 100% effective, especially for dogs not regularly in contact with other dogs.

Canine Influenza

Recommendation: Recommended based on your vet’s advice for your individual dog.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Flea and Tick Prevention

  • Requirement: All dogs and cats must be free of fleas and ticks upon arrival and protected with flea and tick preventative during their stay.
  • Action: If fleas or ticks are found, your pet will receive a flea bath at the owner's expense.

Worms and Parasites

  • Requirement: All dogs and cats must be free of worms and parasites upon arrival.

Important Notes

  • Reservations: Ensure all vaccinations and health preventatives are up-to-date before making a reservation.
  • Consult Your Vet: For additional advice on vaccinations and health preventatives tailored to your pet.
